Dental Veneers in Essex

Dental veneers are wafer-thin, tooth-coloured shells that are placed on the front surface of your teeth to change their appearance. Dental veneers can be used for multiple dental problems like chipped and crooked teeth, discoloured teeth, and cracked teeth. It can even be used to close small gaps between two teeth. Dental veneers are permanent and used to alter the teeth’ colour, shape, and size. Since these are permanent and require considerable investment, getting all the information before you opt for veneers is crucial.

Types of Veneers:

Porcelain Veneers

At Essex Family Dental, we strive to provide our valued patients with the best-in-class cosmetic dental treatment in Ontario. Therefore, we ensure to use the most superior material, porcelain, for customizing your dental veneers. Porcelain or ceramic is a robust dental material that can be manipulated to match natural tooth shade and translucency, giving stunning aesthetic results. In addition, porcelain dental veneers resist staining and chipping, contributing to long-lasting treatment benefits.

Composite Resin Veneers

Composite resin veneers are minimally invasive, can be done directly in the mouth, and do not take long. However, they cannot mimic a natural tooth’s appearance and are aesthetically inferior to porcelain veneers. They are also prone to staining and chipping, lowering their life expectancy.

The Dental Veneer Procedure:

The process of getting porcelain dental veneers at Essex Family Dental is relatively straightforward. It starts with initial consultation, where one of our our general dentists will analyze your smile and understand your cosmetic dental concerns to plan your porcelain dental veneer treatment.

Next, the number of teeth intended for dental veneers is decided, and a dental impression is taken with your upper and lower jaw. A mock-up will be placed to check for the dental veneers’ colour, size, shape, and fit in your next appointment. Once approved, our dentist will remove a tiny layer from the front surface of your teeth to make place for your porcelain dental veneers. This is followed by taking another dental impression which is then sent to the lab where your porcelain dental veneers are made. Typically you will be called for your final appointment within a week or two, where one of our general dentists will place your dental veneers. Dental veneers are glued to the teeth with the help of dental cement and later exposed to UV light for proper hardening. Typically it can take up to 2 hours for porcelain veneers placement but can vary depending upon the number of veneers being placed.
